New Event or Conversion data not in Google Analytics 4?

I am often asked: I set up New Event or Conversion, preview and debugging are all normal, but there is no data in the report.

From personal experience, there are several reasons:

GTM is not published

If you set events  through GTM, after previewing and debugging, you need to release them to take effect.

If you only have the approval permission, you need to pay special attention. Although you can 「Submit」 it, but it is not actually published. It is in the “Approval Queue”, and you need to have the publication permission. Approval will actually be published.

Data delay

GA4 has a relatively serious data delay.

The official document says that it is 24~48 hours.

Generally, it is enough to read the data the next day.

Sometimes, the data will be available in the afternoon of the next day.

Data thresholds

If there are too few event or conversion data and the threshold value of GA4 is not exceeded, GA4 will not display the data in order to protect user privacy.

You can check whether you have turned on Google Signal, and the “Reporting Identity” is selected as “Blended” or “Observed”. If so, then it may be the reason for the data threshold.

You can check this location for details:

Determine whether to apply the threshold. If “Threshold Applied” is displayed, the threshold is applied.

The solution is to select “Device Based” in “Reporting Identity”:
