「GA4 Bug」Event Name is Garbled

Issue

Some people may encounter garbled event names, such as:

This problem has appeared since May 2024 and sometimes still exists in May 2025.

Two possibilities:

• The event naming is irregular
• Encoding or Localization Issues：Non-English characters or improper encoding in event names (e.g., UTF-8 issues) can cause garbled text, especially if the website or GTM setup involves multiple languages or special characters
• It is probably a bug.

Solution

• Check your event naming
• Ensure event names use standard ASCII characters to avoid encoding issues.
• Waiting for official fix.
