Update time: March 13, 2026
This article explains how to delete Rules in Adobe Experience Platform Launch (commonly known as Adobe Launch).
The deletion process depends on whether the rule has already been published to Production. The steps differ for unpublished rules and rules that are currently live.
Deleting an Unpublished Rule
If the rule has not been published, deleting it is straightforward.
- 1、Select the checkbox next to the rule you want to delete.
- 2、The Delete button will appear.
- 3、Click Delete.
The rule will be removed immediately.
Deleting a Published Rule
If the rule has already been published and is active in the Production environment, it cannot be deleted directly.
You must first disable the rule, publish the change, and then delete it.
If you attempt to delete it directly, you may see an error message:
The following resources were not deleted. This may be because they are either in use by a library or they are not disabled in production.
Example Suppose you want to delete the rule: All Pages – Library Load – Set Cookie
Step 1: Disable the Rule
- 1、Select the checkbox next to the rule you want to disable.
- 2、The Disable button will appear.
- 3、Click Disable.
The rule status will then change to Disabled:
Step 2: Publish the Change
Next, publish the change so that the disabled rule is deployed to the Production environment.
Step 3: Delete the Rule
After the disabled version has been published to Production:
- 1、Select the checkbox next to the rule.
- 2、The Delete button will appear.
- 3、Click Delete.
The rule can now be successfully deleted.
