If you’ve pulled up your GA4 landing page report and noticed a row with a blank value:
No URL, no path, just nothing — you probably spent a few minutes wondering if something’s broken. Don’t worry, your tracking is fine.
That blank value is your homepage. It’s a quirk in how GA4 handles the root path.
Why the landing page shows blank
This blank page represents the Home Page, sometimes displayed as /, sometimes displayed as a blank value, when visiting the homepage
- If your homepage display as http://www.bbccss.com/, it will show as “/”
- If your home page display as http://www.bbccss.com it will show up blank
Can you merge it with “/”?
Short answer: no. As of now, GA4 doesn’t give you a way to merge the blank value with the / row in the landing page report. They’ll stay separate unless Google decides to change that behavior.
If you need to work around it, you’d have to export the data and do the consolidation yourself — for example, in BigQuery or a spreadsheet.
Final Words
It’s a small annoyance, I know. The blank homepage row doesn’t affect your data — it just makes the report look slightly messy. Hopefully, Google addresses this at some point, but for now, at least you know what it is and why it’s there.
