Issue

The data of Google Ads and GA4 are very different. For example, the clicks of Google Ads are 100, but the number of sessions/new users in GA4 is only a dozen.

It has been confirmed that there is no problem with the installation of GA4 and the connection with Ads.

 

 

Reason

1. If you have just connected and it has not been more than 48 hours, you need to consider that the data on both sides have not been updated or synchronized.

2. Different metrics: Ads has clicks, and GA4 has session/new users. The two are different metrics. Normally, from clicks to website opening, GA4 records data. There is loss in this process. It is normal for GA4 to be less than Ads. This step is generally described by the reach rate. For example, if the click is 100, GA4 records 20. But it is not normal if it is too much less. If the reach rate is less than 80%, you need to pay attention to:

  • After clicking, it cannot be opened: This is quite common. It is usually a problem with your website. You can improve the server configuration or use CDN.
  • After clicking, it opens and leaves quickly: Generally, the ad does not match the content of the landing page, so it leaves quickly after entering. GA4 has not loaded normally. It is recommended to adjust the ad or the content of the landing page to ensure that the two match.

 

Solution

For the first case, wait 48 hours before checking the data.

For the second case, if it cannot be opened, you can improve the server configuration or use CDN; if it leaves quickly, please make sure that the content of the ad matches landing page that was reached.
